My Dearest Fiona

Updated: Mar 19, 2018

Hi Daughter,

I will always be your best friend. However, I am sometimes "kontrabida" to your life as well. I may be a little strict (which I think I really am) I might have more "don'ts than do's" hehe. I do this to protect and keep you safe.

I have so much fear in me. I don't want you to come across what I've gone through. Once bitten, twice shy. Well, I think that's the beauty of life. Gaining wisdom from mistakes. I will never regret that it happened because having you at a young age taught me a lot of good things in life.

I realized recently that you are no longer the baby Fiona I used to spoil and carry before that's why I thought of scribing this letter. I am delighted to see that you are starting to become independent and more responsible. You do your homework and clean your room by yourself. You are hitting the books and do excellent in your school. Last Valentine's day, you told me someone gave you flowers and Toblerone at school. I really appreciate your honesty and showcasing your "maldita" attitude to your admirer when you told me you don't care and not liking the feeling of receiving something from a man except daddy. Thanks to daddy who gave you first flowers in the morning. I am grateful that you are really paying attention to my pieces of advice. (Daddy calls it sermon)

Your discernment of God's commandments makes me confident to let you experience hurdles and sweetness of life. I will let you explore, spread your wings, stumble and stand back up. Don't forget to put God first in everything you do. Stay humble and be courageous. My prayer is my most powerful tool to protect you 24/7 . As you grow older, rest assured that I will always be here to protect, nurture and love you.

Love,

Mommy
